LensTrails for Android: Privacy
Prepared 18 October 2026. Developer: Jerome Bei. Contact: feedback@jerome.photo.
LensTrails helps you keep a private photography journal and plan shoots. Your saved locations are not published to the worldwide Viewpoints catalog. This notice describes the Android app; the existing privacy policy also covers LensTrails on Apple platforms.
Your journal and permissions
Locations, notes, ratings, tags and journal photos are stored on your device. Camera and photo access let you add photographs. Location access helps show your position, nearby places, distances and photo coordinates. You can explore maps and enter locations manually without granting device location access. Notification permission allows shooting reminders. You can change these permissions in Android settings.
Maps, search and photography conditions
Online features send the information needed to provide their results. This can include a selected location’s coordinates, map viewport, search text and requested dates. Locations can be places you plan to visit, rather than your current position. LensTrails services and their weather, astronomy, tide, imagery and mapping providers process these requests. Your IP address and technical request metadata can be present in service logs.
Google Maps and Places process map and search requests. Their SDKs also collect technical information, including device and SDK metadata, pseudonymous SDK identifiers, IP addresses, crash information and relevant map interactions. Google describes its handling in its Privacy Policy. Journal photos and private notes are not uploaded to the public Viewpoints catalog by these features.
Subscriptions
Google Play handles subscription payments. LensTrails does not receive your payment-card details. RevenueCat processes purchase history, transaction information, subscription status and an app customer identifier to validate purchases, restore access and provide subscription reporting. LensTrails services also use the customer identifier to check access and trials. No LensTrails account is required for the core app. See RevenueCat’s privacy information and Google’s privacy information.
Optional Google Drive sync
If you enable Drive sync, you authorize LensTrails to store your journal and photographs in the app-private area of your Google Drive account using the drive.appdata permission. This does not grant LensTrails access to the rest of your Drive files. Google processes the account authorization and stored backup. Sync is optional; you can use the app without it. Android Drive storage is separate from Apple iCloud storage and does not provide automatic Android–iOS synchronization.
Sharing and advertising
LensTrails has no advertising SDK and does not sell your private journal. Service providers process information needed for app operation, purchases and optional sync. When you explicitly share or export a location, image, GPX or CSV file, or open another mapping app, the information you choose is passed to the selected recipient or app under its own policies.
Security, retention and deletion
The app uses encrypted HTTPS connections for its online services. Local journal data remains until you delete it, clear the app’s data or uninstall the app. Optional Drive data remains subject to your sync and Google account settings; removing the app from the phone does not by itself remove cloud backups. Purchase and operational records can be retained by Google, RevenueCat and service providers for billing, support, security and legal requirements.
To request deletion of LensTrails customer records, contact feedback@jerome.photo. Include the app customer ID shown in Settings so the relevant records can be identified. Do not send payment-card details. Subscription cancellation is managed in Google Play and is separate from a data-deletion request. You can revoke Drive authorization and manage app data through your Google account and Drive settings.
